  1. Bought my first bike for a tenner after saving up. That was 55 years ago. Then came road bikes, mtbs, a tourer and a TT bike for triathlons.Just bought a Zwift ride last week. Old cyclists never die, they just ‘ride on’.

  2. This is not true. Beginners progress much faster!! Day 1 was me. 6 months later the "10 years" was me getting the KOM on the same hill. At 1.5 years I was just about at my maximum. At 3 years there wasn't even 5% more gains.

  3. I’m better climbing 50 years later. Better winter training now with Taxc zwift etc. makes for quality. Only had rollers to winter training on. Good post though.

  4. I’ve been riding since 1980, I have 4 mountain bikes, 4 road bikes, & one beach cruiser. I would have more bikes, but I completely wore them out, not just tires, chains, sprockets, detailers, but also all the bearings, & most of the bottom brackets became unserviceable. It just made more sense to replace the bikes.
