I’m looking for a cheap good road bike. I cycled for years but got out if it about 10 years ago. So before I spend $5k on the carbon frame of my dreams, I’m planning to buy used. The seller is asking for $475 but open to offers. I’m coming from pretty far away, and, no, there are not road bikes closer. We’re in the middle of nowhere thanks to the US Army. I was going to deduct the cost of my travel fuel and make an offer around $375-425. Too much? It’s older and needs a desperate cleaning and rewrap and probably run flat put in the in the tires.

It is something like 14-17 years old with outdated, very basic and low end components. I’d say this is more of a $150-200 deal.
Your offer is reasonable depending on cost of living if none of the components need replacing outside of maybe cables and bar tape.
Typically If that bike retailed for $650
$325 is the right price , anything beyond that is premium
And sombody elses used pedels are cringe worthy
Only if you love ridin necro bicycles
I had an old allez similar shape frame . I stripped it down used 105 parts and a light weight wheel and managed to get it to 8 k for very cheap. I loved it. And now some lucky ducker is riding around on it not knowing it was stolen from me. But I hope they enjoy it. Specialised allez is a great bike. Underrated for no other reason other than it was cheaper than the other big brand
$250 tops for old low end rim brake shit
I wouldn’t pay more than 300 for this bike and that would be only if I was desperate for a bike. This bike is worth closer to 150 depending on how much work it needs/how worn the parts are
What is run flat… that’s not a thing for bikes unless you mean tú less sealant fluid but this bike is definitely not running tubeless or even tubeless ready. It’s probably needs new tubes if it doesn’t hold air.
It looks like for flat roads. Depends on where you live or where you want to take it. For climbing you might want to mount a bigger cassette, but this asks for a longer derailleur too.
The frame seems old. And the Allez is usually aluminum. ask for the transmission, or if anyone knows here, it’s a good indicator. If it’s dura-ace I’d at least ponder, if it’s ultegra I’d need some convincing, anything lower is a no.
