Manchester United owners INEOS have hit back after New Zealand Rugby launched legal action against their former sponsor for alleged breach of contract.

New Zealand Rugby says the global chemicals producer, owned by British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, walked away from a six-year deal that was signed in 2021 and due to run from 2022-2027.

The deal included INEOS branding on the back of playing shorts and on the front of training jerseys for the All Blacks and other national men’s and women’s rugby teams.

  1. The amount in New Zealand dollars is chump change to this guy!
Actually to finance NZ Rugby in its entirety , from kids up would still be chump change !
    Pay your bills!

  2. INEOS must be huffing their own chemicals. They are really good at buying decent things and making them worse. Asset stripping and restructuring only works if you properly invest and plan.

  3. Rubbish tagline – the Glazers are the owners of Man Utd – Ineos are purely a shareholder.
I am a shareholder in my company but I am not an owner. Ineos are just a face for the Glazers – deflecting the fans anger away from the real enemy.

  4. From $37K to $45K that's the minimum range of profit return every week I think it's not a bad one for me, now I have enough to pay bills and take care of my family.

  5. The upside of NZ being a relatively small economy and population is that our sport sides aren't owned by the Billionaire class. Apparently now they seem to want to not only own the world, they want to run the world as well so they can make even more money out of the rest of us.
I hope one day globally the people rise up , take back the power and put the Robber barons back in their box.

  6. Man City are having a tough time but have great owners that is nothing like the ownership of Man Utd. The Glazers saddled the club with debt taking huge dividends year in, year out and now Ineos are crippling the fans with increased costs at the gate whilst cutting costs to the bone to allow the Glazers to continue screwing the club.
