I generally purchase bikes based on how they perform and I’ve heard great things about the Lauf. I just don’t think I could get over how ugly it is. For that reason alone I’d go with the Ventum.

  2. Can’t vouch for the ventum but everyone I know who has a lauf loves it. For what it’s worth I visited their headquarters when I was in Reykjavik last and they were really welcoming and nice to talk to.

  3. I do feel like an XL Ventum would fit me better than a Lauf. I’m probably an XL Lauf but might like a lower stack, and the Large would maybe be too low and would need a longer stem 🤷🏼‍♂️

  4. If you’re going rigid, no reason to not go Ventum or any other similar spec. IMO the point of a Seigla is the suspension fork.

Check out the Propain Terrel as well. Super customizable to get the parts you want, at a good price

  6. My brother bought a GS1 with SRAM Apex a few months ago and the entire process was smooth for him. It came with a torque wrench and wheel bags and overall it was clear they go a bit beyond what you might get from a larger direct to consumer brand. He loves the bike, but it’s also his first serious bike so he doesn’t have much to compare it to.

One of the often unnoticed benefits of Lauf is their smoothie handlebar, which is spec’d on build levels that usually don’t have a carbon handlebar. I think either way, you’d be happy, but I’d probably go with the Ventum GS1 over the seigla for a gravel bike (I also wouldn’t want the suspension which might change things) and if I went with a road bike I’d probably take the Uthauld over the NS1.

  7. My buddy had last year’s GS1 and just got the rigid Seigla. He LOVES the Seigla. I don’t think he didn’t like the GS1 but hes had both and has nothing but good things to say about the Lauf. I also just got the Seigla rigid and am super happy with it.

  8. I got a “display” GS1 on a Black Friday deal. It was a brand new bike as far as I could tell. It’s basically the moss colorway of that flint/rival with different wheels. I already had some ENVE AG25s for it, so it was sort of what I needed to find. It also has the integrated stem/bars cockpit. The price was $3,049 plus tax. They did a free shipping promo a week or so after I bought it, and they gave me the free shipping just because I asked them to. I found the quarq power meter crank are from an online shop for ~$220 IIRC. It’s the nicest bike I’ve ever owned, even though I’ve had a more expensive Pivot MTB. I was concerned that it might feel too racey for my preference. It doesn’t. It’s comfortable and smooth. I’ve ridden it with the ENVEs and the stock Vision Team 30s. Pretty significant difference in perceived comfort there. I looked at the Lauf too. I think the Ventum was just a better deal with the deal I got. I think you will probably have an awesome bike either way.

I have both and I have to say they are both incredible bikes! I would say it slightly depends on what your intentions are. Pure, pure gravel…I prefer the Seigla. But, the GS1 feels fast, looks fast, and if you plan on riding on road as well, I prefer it as a combo bike. Honestly, you can’t go wrong either way!
