Lovely folks of r/whichbike, please help me find a bike ๐
Iโm looking to swap out my bike for something else this year. For context I have a 2019 Cannondale SuperSix Evo road bike which i purchased last year. Itโs a joy to ride, but I fear it might be too much bike for me. I basically find itโs too easy to go too fast (Iโm healthy but not that good at riding a bike lol). Last year I crashed once and had it took some months for me to fully recover
I think for my next bike Iโm not as worried about having the fastest thing like I thought I needed when I bought my current bike. A steel/aluminum frame is ok with me, and Iโve been looking to hit some gravel trails so accommodating larger tire sizes is a must.
I recently stumbled across a listing for a Canyon Grizl 7 Suspension (like in this review) for $1300 on facebook marketplace. It seems pretty much perfect for me, although Iโm a little unsure I need the suspension as I rarely go off the trail/road. Also worried about suspension maintenance costs $$$
Any and all help is appreciated!
tldr:
priorities for next bike:
– steel/aluminum commuter and gravel capable bike
– easy maintenance once or twice a year
– preferably less than $1500 (used, can be more new)
questions:
– are there any models I should be looking for specifically?
– is suspension overkill for my use?

Can you simply change to lower end tires, heavier and more traction?
