In May half term we drove to the South of France from Manchester with no stopovers – the drive took the best part of 20 hours.
The drive down was definitely harder than the drive home as coming back we set off at 9am and got home at 3am so it was just a really late night whereas the drive down we set off at 9pm so pulled an all-nighter and drove right through the next day. . . .
We fully plan to do a similar drive next May but will time the drive down slightly differently!
Any questions about what we did and why, let me know!

I am so happy to see a video from you. Haven’t seen you is so long. Missed seeing you all. The kids have really grown. Loved this.
Off on a drive down to Perpignan myself in a few weeks, my wife is flying because she said sod sitting in the car that long, I like the adventure though 😁. I admired your fortitude on the journey. Your kids were well behaved, it would have been impossible to travel that far with ours when they were that age. Not sure if I will have a stopover though even though I am travelling on a Sunday 🙂
You made a video called "driving to the south of france" and then only showed your face?
