Thats how they work. When you just pull the cassette, you are pulling the cassette with the whole freehub off the hub. You need to use a chain whip with the proper cssette tool and undo the cassette nut. Heres a good video https://youtu.be/9KAaP7pbFV0?si=iiI1EMxPoJUmXX8k
