I see a lot of people hang their bike on the wall with various mounting types, usually to points under the frame. I have used plumbing pipe mounted to match the wheelbase instead, and keeps the bike straight and level, rather than the sloping top tube. Why have I never seen anyone else do it this way?
I wrapped the pipe with a bit of rubber so it doesn’t scratch the rim.

It’s an easy way to do it for sure. I did something like this to hang a warrantied frame as art.
One issue is this setup is basically good for this wheelbase only. Get a new bike, you’ll need to move the mount. Frame-focused mounts often don’t have this issue.
Two, the metal, but if you’ve got rubber there, cool.
Can’t tell specifics from your setup, but I’d be worried about accidentally bumping the chain, chainring, pedal, etc. This is why I don’t hang one of my bikes over a couch and have just a frame there instead. Bikes, with pedals, stick out quite a ways from a wall and without a bunch of planning are easy to bump.

I did it like this as well except I used 2 pipes under each tire and rubberized hooks to hold the drops and the pedal for extra security
