I was reindexing the derailer since I kept on having bad shifts and I noticed on the higher geara it seemed to be way too far forward with a grinding noise coming whenever I pedaled. Is the chain too short or is this how it's supposed to look? (2nd picture)

The derailleur looks like it’s mounted correctly, but the chain needs another 4 links at least
Looks like it’s on the wrong side of the little bit of folded metal that sits between the two jockey wheels.
Looks like the chain is routed incorrectly between the two jockey wheels? Is the chain rubbing on a metal tab inside the cage? Chain is also too short.
Is the chain rubbing on the guide between the two cogs of the derailleur? If so, you may have routed the chain incorrectly.
And yes, that does look quite short for the gearing. You might want to add some links.
The chain is routed the wrong way over the tab on the cage. That’s why it’s making noise.
Mech is fine, chain isn’t routed correctly. It might also be too short, but you’ll find out when you put it back on right.
chain looks a lil short
Nah
That chain is definitely too short.
Just a slight error in chain routing that we’ve all done. Is that a Redwood by chance?
