Hello, just wanting to get peoples opinion. Do you feel this tyre is repairable or just flat our needs replacing. I am currently running a tubless set up but need to pump up my rare wheel almost every day. The bike and tires are only 10 months old. I don't think that something has lacerated the wheel as it's on both sides of the sidewall and all around the wheel and nothing on the front wheel.
Cheers

  1. I’ve had a couple of tires do that. Eventually they stopped as the sidewalls sealed just like any other hole.

  2. I have had that happen with a WTB tire before. It was an MTB tire but looked identical. It never sealed properly and I just replaced with better tires.

What sealant? Stan’s did this on WTB Exposures for me but Orange Seal worked like a charm to seal the sidewalls. I’ve been religiously an Orange Seal user since.

  4. Yeah that’s a “feature” of WTB tires. Buy Gravelking next time, they’re objectively far better tires.

WTB are shit in my experience (and many others).

  5. I had this on a WTB Sendero. It sealed at some point, took about 2-3 months I think and the tire held up really well without any more leakage.

experienced the same situation with a schwalbe g-one and a set of continental terra speed. never got them airtight enough

  7. Welcome to wtb tires. I had this exact thing happen to me with them, sent an email and video of it, they sent new tires, same. Never again.

  8. Is that WTB Riddler from the bike? I got myself a Topstone 2 Alloy with a pair of WTB Riddler last year, and experienced this very same thing. Then i just noticed that the riddler from the bike is not actually tubeless compatible, lol.

Check your tires if there is any TCS mark on it

  9. Use a different type of sealant, you could also add some sort of particulate to your sealant… you might also just need to top the sealant off… although it looks like it’s seeping, did you just top it off, in fact? Did you shake the sealant up really well before doing so?

Leaky sidewall ten months after is very strange. Usually this happens when setting it up tubeless as some tyres are tubeless ready rather than tubeless complete, which means that you’re effectively filling a bunch of micro holes with sealant.

Since it’s happened so late on I’d consider the tyre to be defective and definitely replace. Take the opportunity to switch to panaracer gravel king sk or something in the g-one range.

I dont think its a problem with the tire, but with the sealant. Most tires leak air through walls when there is no or nonfunctional sealant. What sealant are you using? And as @siphonoforest mentioned, did you apply it correctly?

  12. Add sealant and see. May be all you need. Go from there. I usually add some every 8-9 months just to be sure unless I’ve worn a tire out.
