7/8 year old MTB that I replaced everything on in 2020 except wheels, bearings and the BB. I've noticed a clunking noise while riding recently and I'm wondering whether this is the culprit.
Should there be this much play in my BB?

Absolutely not. It should be rock-solid.
The issue is likely the cups coming loose. You’ll need a crank puller and splined BB removal tool to tighten it. If that doesn’t fix it, something else is wrong – you might need to replace the cartridge as well, but that’s pretty cheap and also easy to do.
Don’t keep riding it like this, if it’s loose it won’t do good things to the threads in your frame (and *that* is a less simple fix).
