I bought an old bike and decided to replace the worn and dirty parts including the chainring and the crank arms as well, but I can't figure out how to remove this cap from the crank arm, does anyone know what it's called and how I can remove it?

I think that’s some type of plastic cap someone stuck in there. It’ll probably just pop out.
Looks like a basic plastic end cap. Just pull.
