Wow. Nice car, nice camera, nice bikes… But putting even a rag down under that chainring would have kept you from getting (very hard to remove and easy to transfer to clothing) greasy gunk out of the seats.
I’ve always had better experience folding the seats down and putting the bikes in through the trunk/boot.

A bike rack just lives on my car for all my bike hauling needs. Really saves fiddling with getting them into my corolla.
