Never had to deal with a thorn on a sidewall. 45mm wtb riddler. On my beefier mtb tires I usually just leave the thorns in or plug it if it comes out. Is the tire cooked or can I plug or patch that spot?
You need a new tire. Side wall holes cannot be patched, and will grow.

Sidewalls are usually very hard to fix, it’s likely a goner but you could try.

I’ve done a patch and ride for yonks after. If you have an old sacrificial tire you can add that to the inside and stitch it in with braided fishing line.

I’ve patched inside the sidewall of my tire and it bulged out a little bit, but I’m still running the tire more than a year since then, seemingly without a problem.
But of course, replacing the tire would be the best if you don’t mind spending some money.

Stitching is the only way I know to fix a sidewalk. I’ve only seen it done once – by the lead tech in our shop on *his own* tire.

no bulge no problem. patch away. put it on the rear, let it wear out, check regularly
