Hello Cyclists,

I am currently thinking about buying a new Canyon road bike. Already tried the Ultimate, know my size etc. The only doubt I still have is which one.

Ultimate CF SLX 8 Di2 Speed (6.499€) or Ultimate CF SL 7 Di2 (4.299€).

In other words, is the 2.200€ price difference justified. I know that the carbon composition is different, but the things that Im more curious about is groupset (105 vs Ultegra) and wheels (Shimano vs DT Swiss). Are those two things worth it?

Thank you for your thoughts!

Damn the CF SL 7 is 400€ cheaper. Was 4,700 before. Literally made no sense to buy it a couple weeks ago.

I personally think that for 99% of people the carbon type doesn’t matter. It’s a little stiffer? Fine, you won’t notice. 200g or some shit lighter? Fine, your body is too heavy anyway.
Groupset is a nice upgrade in my eyes.
Wheels is a decent upgrade as well.
For that kind of money? If you have it, you ride a lot and you like the sexy blue color way more: get it. If not: the CF SL 7 is a really good bike and you could upgrade the wheels down the road from the money you kept by buying the cheaper one and still have some money left

If it has to be between those 2 bikes, get the cheaper one, and buy a 2nd set of nice wheels. Keep the stock wheels and put on heavy/wide tires for bad weather and winter, or rough road, riding.

Why not consider the SLX AXS – is 5999 and lighter?
