Hi everyone I’m currently riding a 24’ Roscoe 7 with a Pike fork and have been interested in adding a FS to the quiver. There is currently a 19’ Fuel Ex 9.8 Carbon large frame on FB marketplace for $1600 OBO. Bike looks to be in good shape and is stock. What are your thoughts? How different is it from the current Fuel Ex?

Check thoroughly for creases/hairline fractures in the frame. In my honest opinion, I’d just keep saving for a new one. You can find an unused Fuel Ex 2024 for $3000. I was literally just looking at one at Scheels the other day. In my mind, spending the extra $1400 for better peace of mind is worth it. By the time you started replacing used components, you’d basically be at the $3000 mark anyway.
Edit: the one I’m referencing is of course not Carbon
I miss and regret selling my 2019 9.8. Freaking rad bike. Not as “aggressive” geo as current 130mm bikes but it’s sooo versatile. I raced XC and did big single track days.
FYI – that is not stock. The 2019 9.8 came with a Fox 34 130mm. Also the dropper has been removed and the deraileur and cassette have been replaced.
