  1. That’s right! That’s why there’s a spacer between the bearings in your bb. It makes it so it doesn’t crush the bearings and distributes the load correctly over the inner race.

  2. The bolts tighten the crank arms to the bearings. There should be a spacer between the bearings that stop you from side loading the bearings when you tighten shit down.

    8 splines do the same. The main bolts tighten against the bb and the pinch bolts, pinch the crank to the spindle.
    But 48 splines have more contact points so they dont creek like 8 splines
