Hi,

I’m hesitating between the new canyon aeroad size small and a size xs. I’m 177cm with a inseam of 80cm. When I input my dimensions into the size calculator it said that a small would fit me, but my inseam would also fit the XS. I’m 177cm, but my inseam is 80cm, which is consider small legs, compared to my height. A 80cm inseam fits perfectly in the middle of the XS leg length but not for the reach, so I was considering changing the 90mm stem for a 110mm or 120mm stem with the new Pace T bar to have the same effective reach as the small (549mm for small vs 535mm for XS).

That being said is there any other implications then the effective reach to go for an XS over a small with my height and inseam? I’m racing competitively so the more aero and aggressive I can get, the better.

I mean the stack is lower on a XS as well. So if you want to ride really aggressively that might be a pro too. Have you compared the geometries on a website? If an increase of 2-3 cm is enough, why not?

  3. If my memory serves me correctly, the Ultimate has the same geometry as the Aeroad. I used to ride an Ultimate in size S with a slammed 400×110 stem at 174cm/80cm, and the saddle to handlebar drop felt just right. FWIW the lower stack of the XS might end up shifting too much of your weight to your hands since you have a longer torso than I do.

How did you measure your inseam? I did it with a book and got 78 cm. A few days later I went to a Canyon service center and they measured it with their measuring system and I got 82.5 (the Canyon Perfect Positioning System or PPS as they call it),
