I am planning a possible trip from my city in Canada to just outside of Washington DC this summer as one of my friends will be moving there for work later this month.
I just threw together a route and was hoping to get some suggestion along the way or to make modifications.

Off the top of my head, your best bet is to follow Lake Erie (Northern Tier?) and then head down south towards Pittsburgh, where you can hop on the GAP and C&O and that will take you to DC directly.
