When this was an oiled chain, I’m almost certain it wasn’t this loud. The video seems to make it sound even louder, but that’s not a bad thing for demonstration purposes.
Due to not keeping track, this is either a brand new chain, or the one from the bike that had done a couple of hundred miles only. It’s a new bike.
Both chains were waxed with Silca was using the strip chip system, so should be the same
I’ve ridden it for 5 minutes at low power on a turbo – but there’s clearly still wax buildup coming off as you can see in the video.
Everything feels fine to me, and it looks ok from my amateur perspective. It’s a sram chain so isn’t directional as far as I understand it.
One thing I have noticed is that one chain has ‘203’ stamped in it, and the other has ‘361’. I can’t find information about what this means though.
I just thought I’d post here for a second opinion about this. I haven’t tried the other chain yet to see if it’s any different, as I currently don’t have any spare quick links so don’t want to risk it until I order a few more.
Thanks!

Sounds normal to me.
I find anywhere from the first 10-30 miles the chain can sound a little noisier with wax.
After that, it’s buttery smooth and quiet.
