    Where to buy brake piston?

      You can try your luck with the Amazon replacements, try to find a used caliper on ebay to scavenge pistons from, or purchase a new caliper. Shimano doesn’t sell spares unfortunately.

      Shimano doesn’t sell them as spare parts because they consider them to be a safety component. Try a bike shop, maybe they have an old caliper for parts.

      You’ll need a whole new caliper unfortunately. Shimano doesn’t support replacing pistons. That said I’ve seen others use pistons from old calipers, so that’s one option, but at your own risk. You might be able to find aftermarket pistons on eBay but that would be an at your own risk situation too. I’d go with a new caliper for safety and peace of mind when you’re on the bike and screaming down a hill.

      Same thing happened to me and my LBS had some spares that they must have pulled from old calipers

      Aliexpress. They are aftermarket and the quality durability is arguably unknown long term. However with 1000+ sold and good reviews its worth a shot. I can’t link to the exact product I found on ali as reddit blocks it as spam but you will find it.

      As others have said shimano do not sell pistons as spares. An alternative might be to ask your local group if anyone has an old busted caliper, but goog luck getting the pistons out.

      Shimano will warranty this and send you a whole new caliper. Did it with an slx caliper last year.

      FWIW I’ve installed an aftermarket anodized Titanium piston kit for a guy a few years back. Front and rear, gravel bike, RS505 brakes. He’s still riding them, and he rides a lot. I’m not sure whether he bought them at Aliexpress or from an obscure small brand in Russia. But they do (or used to) exist and they work.

      I replaced a piston in a Shimano XTR BR-M9120 with a unit I found on Aliexpress. It has been working fine for 2 years now. Is this as good as replacing it with a legit Shimano part? No, but I couldn’t get my hands on the legit part and I didn’t want to throw the whole caliper away.
