Installed a set of specialized turbo cottons in March 2024 and have ridden maybe around 2000km. On the last ride I noticed it felt and noisy and maybe even abit slippery.
When I got home I checked the tyres and the rear was in pretty bad shape with some bulging on the sidewall and the rubber was cracking peeling off.
Is this normal wear and to be expected or did riding in the very hot Japanese summers affect the rubber?
For reference always ridden using the psi calculator for my weight and using TPU tubes (78psi) so don't think I've ridden over or under pumped but was expecting them to last abit longer.

  1. My bike with these tyres did the same. Although mine did this over winter in my garage in the UK.

I did replace them but they did the same again.

I’ve switched to GP5000 now and these have been fine.
Shame as I really liked the tyres.

  2. Turbo Cottons are a race day tire. Expecting them to last more than 1000 miles isnt going to work out too well. I had a customer who raced and he replaced his turbo cottons probably every 6 weeks or so.

  3. Are those the regular turbo pros? The turbo cottons have a yellow sidewall. My bike came with regular turbo pros. I took em off and left them in storage and found that they had dry rot after about a year
