Edinburgh Harley-Davidson is closing its doors AT THE END OF APRIL 20025 (not at the end of 2025 as I mentioned in the video), marking the end of an era for Harley riders in Scotland. With the Dunedin Chapter and Thunder in the Glens losing their official dealership sponsor, what does this mean for the future of Scotland’s biggest H.O.G. chapter and Europe’s largest Harley rally?
In this video, we dive into the impact of this closure, what it means for Harley-Davidson owners, and how the motorcycle industry is changing in the UK. With dealerships shutting down across the country, is this the beginning of a major shift for motorcycling in Scotland?
Let’s discuss the future of Harley-Davidson, independent motorcycle shops, and how riders will navigate these changes.

Couldn’t care less
I think there's been about 5 dealerships now closing the UK and 3 of them reopened under new management and actually came back better Harley-Davidson needs to stop going down the same road thinking things will get better I need to look at Triumph as a inspiration lots of different types of bikes Harley-Davidson already has the 750 X for sale in other countries except this one would open up a whole new market for them in this country by aiming that bike at the youth budget Rider they also need to bring out the Bronx 1200 which they've been promising for a long time and don't deliver this will open the street fighter market for them come on Harley you can do better than this stop being so high end clientele that will not save your company I know this working in the bike trade for a long time
reading watford all gone recently and the only one near me is guildford hd and thats owned by lind group who have been shutting their triumph and bmw dealerships as well as hd ones. i got rid of my sportster just recently and i wont be returning to the brand after owning two harleys ( low rider s, iron 1200) the brand is too expensive now with basic bikes starting around 14k. i got a suzuki gsx 8r for 9k and it does everything i need in a bike and to be honest will be more reliable and start everytime without needing to be on a charge. people havnt got the money anymore for luxury bikes like harleys. killing the 883 and 1200 sportsters put the range out of reach for many.
I always found Glasgow more friendly and helpful anyway. Must be because it was owned and run by a biker, not a Car dealership like Edinburgh.
Both dealers were almost the same distance from me at about 90 miles.
Netherton tractors in Forfar are main John Deere specialist and can service your Harleys and have a full range of agricultural machinery both new and used.
The cost of purchase and service cost has been exhausted.
Having owned and ridden Harley’s for almost 50 years, seeing so many dealers closing is very sad for Harley employees and riders alike. BUT, I feel all Harley products are dramatically overpriced, big flashy showrooms cost a fortune, and with the current cost of living many riders simply cannot afford such a costly pastime.
Man, I wonder what Harley's plan is to deal with all this unsold inventory. Every dealership in the US and UK is packed to the rafters with new bikes, so I don't think other dealerships will want them unless the Motor Company floor plans the bikes at a steep discount. I suspect there are going to be a lot of Harley Davidsons sitting in warehouses in the dark collecting dust.
By a Japanese bike instead of these crap
Priced themselves out of the market ,no new up coming customers ,young people arent into bikes like they once were ,inherent bad engineering ,and service costs ,bad economy ,luxury items people dont need ,HD is a Dinosaur which hasnt seen the Comet headed its way ,living in a fools paradise…………….like its CEO and Managers
Prices of q Harley way up. Not Worth it
1.st HD must kick out WOKE CEO J.ZEITZ ,send him back to PUMA!!
Really sad to hear this, I've called into the Edinburgh dealership a few times on my 2014 Triumph Rocket III Roadster on a day's ride that took me North from Newcastle
I've always been made welcome at Edinburgh HD, coffee and a chat with the great team there and the equally great Scottish HD riders
Just bought my first Harley, a new Fat Boy, had it delivered from Iron City Motorcycles in Gateshead, another great Harley Dealership
It's sitting in the garage alongside the Rocket III , they look like they were meant to be together
Owning a Harley is not a cheap option especially when so many people are finding life a bit difficult just now
If HD wants to survive in the UK it's going to have to relax the ridiculous expensive demands it's making on the owners of HD franchises and do more to draw younger people into the lifestyle
I'm no spring chicken at 66, who knows how long I can still ride a heavy large capacity machine safely?
Something smaller and lighter would be great, affordable to draw in new riders would also be great as well
That happens if you only build overpriced crappy bikes that no one wants to ride. First you lose the ordinary blue collar riders, then the yuppies, then you close the doors. Same mistakes as in today's car industry. You would think they learned something from the car industry? NO !
Very sorry for the bikers and the good people of the shop! I had a CVO Streetglide and I sold it partly because HD is now a WOKE business! Go woke = go broke !
Ride a decent bike instead? 😜
Been riding bikes since 1980 and was always a dream to buy a Harley, went to Edinburgh Harley about 8 years ago and bought my Harley Heritage Softail and paid cash for it, the shop staff were great with me until I paid the cash and took the bike home, I had to buy a battery for it on my second day of ownership, the shop did not want to know, they were going to send me paperwork for it in the post but it never arrived, I tried to trade it in for a newer bike a few years later and they wanted to give me pennies for it, my experience with that shop is that it is all about money and they are only interested in rich guys who have a lot of spare cash, everything Harley is far too expensive and is about to become a lot more expensive due to Trump. Just greedy B————-ds really and nothing else and good riddance to them.
Royal Enfield had record sales last year, as did BMW and Honda. It's a question of providing the right product, pricing it right and promoting it properly. HD is a has been and their annual figures which come out tomorrow will confirm it RIP Harley
Sad for the workers.
But this is going to happen a lot more. Their bikes aren't selling in big numbers, price increases on already expensive bikes
HD has lost the plot.
They got too greedy and relied too much on the rich man with the American Express Gold card, I bought a bike there years ago and had a very poor experience with them, always found them to be quite snobby in the shop and everything was just about money so I wont shed any tears for them. A lot of Harley riders in Edinburgh took their bikes to West Coast Harley in Glasgow because they got a better service there.
A MidAmerican here. Harley-Davidson has not made anything Innovative in 50+ years outside of the V-Rod. The core customer base refuses to buy or even entertain the notion of a smaller capacity affordable motorcycle and ridiculed anyone who rode a Sportster for over 50 years. The UK is banning all internal combustion engines within the next 5 to 10 years. Gee, I wonder why they closed? Enjoy your 10 to $20,000 Electric motorcycles.
Tbh, HD dealers are dropping like flies in the UK now. Nobody is buying them plus the main dealer servicing is extortionate as with my Sportster which I luckily p/ex for a Triumph T120 as the HD/Triumph dealer in Watford but that’s gone now. I have yet to see one Pan America on the roads to date.
Most Harley dealerships are run by arrogant folks!😈😈
