Hello everyone, I’m new to cycling and I wanted to get my foot in with a used bike. I have very little knowledge when it comes to this hobby, so I wanted to see if there was anyone out there who could help me find out if a bike I was interested in would be a good buy or not.
I came across a used Colnago vintage retro modern Frankenbike (size 55, I’m 1.82m) that seems to be of good value – it’s listed for $1200.
I’m about to pull the trigger but I was wondering if anyone experienced could give me their 2 cents and things I should look out for before making the jump.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

That’s literally my fucking dream build, you kidding me
Sick bike ! For the 1200$ though you could find something more modern , better brakes , more tire clearance. But that bike right there is a head turner . I like it and I’m not a huge fan of retro
1200 AUD? Height in meters and dollars suggests that.
I’m not sure I buy that it is 55cm frame. There is a lot of head tube. Is it a bike you can see in person? The way the bike is set up I suspect the seller is around 1.90m.
Odd that in a couple of the images there are clearly different wheels and tires on the bike. Some sort of aluminum wheel and Conti Gatorskins.
More information about the drivetrain would be useful. 1x can be limiting, especially if you in a hilly or mountainous region. I think the wheels say Roval, Specialized’s house brand for wheels. I don’t think they changed the brake pads when they swapped to a carbon wheel. I would verify that the pads are recommended for carbon brake tracks. If they are not swap them out immediately. The wrong pads can ruin carbon wheels. Athena is Campy’s lowest level part.
If the price is AUD there is probably 1.2k value in the frame and wheels. I’m not sure it is a great first bike. However there is some value in a bike that makes you excited to ride it.
