Disused railway lines are now giving us some of the best long distance gravel cycle ways in the county.
The Marriott’s Way is a long-distance footpath, cycle-path and bridleway between Norwich and Aylsham, Norfolk, England. It forms part of the National Cycle Network (NCN) (Route 1). Follows the old track bed of two rail net works; the M&GN Joint Railway and the Great Eastern. It joins the two rail network lines through the Themelthorpe Curve built by British Rail in 1960. Its 39.5km or about 24 miles long.
In this video I take the Marriott’s Way from Norwich, commencing from the old “City” Terminus of the M&GN JR and terminating at Reepham, although the route continues on the old GE tack bed to Aylsham.
Its November and its a bright crisp day. The sky is clear and blue and the sun is out! What better day to go out and explore. The trees are in full autumn colour. I show some of the sights of Norwich City before setting off. I stop at various points along the way including Reepham & Whitwell station. I’ll point out things of interest and above all I hope the video entertains you!
I really hope you like the video and learn something about the Marriott’s Way.

Wow I've learned some interesting points of the Marriotts Way line that I never knew even though I'm a local to the area. I've ridden parts of the way but never the whole thing, another ride for my list in 2021.
Another awesome video!
Married? In an old train station? Whatever next! Another fascinating video Andrew, I love the old image overlays, very artistic.
Very interesting video. Your local knowledge and love of where you live is amazing. You seem to like trains , not sure what music you like but you should give the band Eastfild a listen.
Great vid. I did Wroxam via Bure, then onto Marriots to Norwich a few weeksback.
Another cracking video Andrew and certainly showing off some of Norfolk’s treasures, like you said you don’t need to go far to have an adventure.Norfolk has lots to offer. Appreciate the effort to make these lovely videos ATB 👍🏻
Great video Andrew. I used to live in Drayton & regularly did the trip to Reepham station, or Dial House for a brew & cake. Recommend it to anyone once Norfolk reopens for visitors.
I've learned some very intereting points following you on your journey. There seems to be quite a few locals watching this video. Maybe we should have a meet up one weekend and ride the trail together and get to know some of the other local cyclists.
Very enjoyable…nice one ,👍
The Downslink is good if you're into old railway track riding as its a decent surface, long run from Guildford down to Shoreham. A good 35 mile route. Fantastic for gravel/hybrid bikes
Nice video. I'm going to ride this one today.
Thank you for this, very informative well produced video.
Morning fellow Andrew. Great video. I'm in Norwich from Thursday evening, it's my birthday too. Mrs has meetings on Friday, so I'm tagging along just so I can do this ride. You've inspired me 😂 from the end at Aylsford, I'm going to Happisburg too. My family, great great grandparents, were from Pennygate, Barton Turf, so I love Norfolk anyway. Watched loads of your vlogs, all of them are top quality. Thank you, & keep them coming 🤜🤛
