  1. It’s dead. That chainstay is more rust than metal at this point. Even if you patch it, it’s waiting to fail. Sorry about your $40.

sooooo I’m gonna do a mega hot take here, and I think you should disregard it.

Let’s start with the basics, that thing is mega likely rusty from all over the place and this just happens to be the first place that a “crack” (more like a canyon) has formed. So my first suggestion is that this frame is going to explode all over your ass.

However, I do think this would be a really good excuse to buy a harbor freight $300 welder throw on some patch or even do a full sleeve weld. Will it withstand dropping from a fucking balcony? nah. But it’ll probably get you to the bar and I don’t see any problem with that.

I guess what I’m saying is that, you have a truly unique and fun opportunity to fuck around. can you imagine learning how to weld on a bike that functionally works? yea you wouldn’t, but now you genuinely have a piece of shit that you can fuck around with and weld some random sleeve and throw on disc brakes and weld some fucking weird rack mount. I’d call it a win no matter what

  3. I bought a 90s Redline Monocog that had a hole like that, must have sat outside for years. Paid $40, flipped it for $40 😆

  4. Doooo itttttt. And make an update. I don’t care if it’ll be ugly I just wanna see you do it. Cause I wanted to Soo many times myself…
