Where is this broken piece came from? It’s scaring me. I recently did free hub service, brake bolt cleaning, saddle and stem change. Giant TCR, Zonda wheel.

I have a similar problem, this came off when I removed the rear wheel on my fixed gear. I have no idea where it would have come from though 🙁

It looks like a broken outer ball race, but I don’t see a groove for the balls in the photo.
I don’t think it’s a pawl. They usually have a groove or divot for the spring and a beveled edge to engage the teeth.

**Problem solved** It was from the chain whip I used when removing the cogs from the free hub. One of the chain whip’s link was broken due to the force I applied. Thank god it’s not from my bike -.-

is that one of the spauls from inside of the freehub?
It looks a piece broken off a larger circular piece, maybe a spacer somewhere on the wheel?
Edit: Probably not from the wheel, because it’s so small.
It looks like a piece of broken plastic from a chrome painted collar or ring. Maybe some trim from the brake levers or shifters

That, good friend, is the bike’s soul. Please put it back.
