It was my closest bike shop that was near my house being a 5/6 minute pedal and only really went there if I needed something quick or needed a chain put on but now he’s closing witch I can’t really blame him afyer 16 years but I’m not sure as it was the only bike shop that deals with bmx but sells se so he knew what to do and understood every other shop not some much is more of road mtb and all that so what should I do next?

In my country, there is only one bmx shop, and its online only with local Pickup. But no shop nothing.
And delivery times take few days and pick up is also just after confirming a day and time with the owner.

So no possible way to get parts replaced quick.

So I tried to have most parts twice as a Backup.
Like not the same, but for example I still have the crmo bars of my wethepeople complete bike.
Helps out alot in a emergency

  2. Sign of the times, we’re seeing shops of all kinds close down weekly, high rent and rates, poor mark up on bikes and parts that themselves have massively raised in price. It absolutely sucks that the heart of many scenes is having to call it a day.
While not exactly close, volt bmx is in London, but isn’t obviously on your doorstep.

Amazon is shutting small businesses down worldwide… but one thing you can do is check in with your bike shop owner and ask nicely for contact information and see if you can count on him after shop closes. Due to the slow sales, my neighborhood bike shop is now mobile and will come to you and tune your bike at customer location. The mobile tune up idea seems to be working good for them to as I always see them busy on Instagram

  4. Unfortunately, bmx is not a great money maker for a bike shop, and bmx shops are hard to come by. I have to order everything because no local store ever carries the parts I want. If you want high end parts, you have to order. Parts I’ve had to order in the past two years. Profile race cranks, Flybikes 9″ Sierra handlebars, Flybikes ruben tired(foldable), Eclat Mirage tire, Odyssey Antigram cassette hub.

Daaaamn that sucks… are you in Sacramento area? I feel like i heard of JRs 🤔
Either way I’m sorry for your loss we have lost most our area shops too… only 1 left why have bmx parts and nothing newer than 2010 🤦‍♂️ it’s cause everyone shops online and unfortunately now I have no choice since that show no longer buys anything new
