Hi everyone, the front derailleur hanger on my Merida has snapped at the bottom and I can no longer fix the derailleur to it safely. My local bike shop couldn't help as unfortunately Merida do not deliver sub-components like this to New Zealand. It's a second hand bike with no warranty. My brother welded the snapped point back together and it worked for 4 months before snapping again, this time round welding is not an option as you can see the material is disentegrating. My last attempt at saving this bike/frame is searching aliexpress for a similar sized derailleur hanger, even if I get one that fits I think it's gonna be a mission to actually replace it with these bolts. Honestly at a bit of a loss at this point, if anyone here has any ideas that would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  1. I don’t know much about this brand. Is this a steel bike? If so, can you have the mount removed, sanded down, painted, and then get a clamp-on mount?

  2. Maybe an online Merida retailer or a eBay seller that’s willing to ship to NZ to get a replacement? You could go 1x.

It looks similar to the riveted braze-on mount that Specialized used on a Roubaix, but could have very different dimensions. You may be able to find one on AliExpress that will match the exact holes and dimensions so it can be pop-riveted on, but hard to get accurate measurements from the items on that site so could be trial and error.
