Got a new Canyon CF SL 7 AXS. Haven't crashed in 6 years. Second ride out and crashed at 40kmh after getting cut off by a car. Hoods bent in, all repairable and most importantly no chipped paint! Phew!!
Phew, most importantly, glad you’re OK. The hoods should be able to be just shoved back into place, no?
Be glad you got your first one out of the way with no disasters – all downhill from here! 😁

Got great advice from my LBS recently – hoods are supposed to do that, just like derrailuer hangers, to stop something more important breaking. Just whack it back into place.

Just pull back the rubber cover, there is a big hex screw, loosen it, put hood in place and fasten it again.

This actually illustrates the importance of proper torque. If the hoods were tightened more, you would break the handlebar.
And I am glad you’re OK
