  1. So after adjusting the seatpost (and putting tons of carbon paste), the seatpost continues sliding.

If I continue using the Canyon torque wrench that came I will end damaging the screw head. It’s already damaged.

Can I use my own torque wrench (or T25 Allen key) for that part? There is a point (below 5nm) that the screw does not move and the seatpost is not tight.

Canyon ships you a bare minimum plastic torque tool just to be sure everybody can assemble it, just like the hex tools from Ikea.

I used a more professional tool like yours aswell and just ignored the canyon one.

Your torque wrench seems fine. Based on 1 picture…

Advice in general: use your head when torqueing carbon. If you feel like the wrench isn’t working properly, stop and test it out on something less expensive (and volnurable).

  4. ⚠️ Proceed with caution!!⚠️ you are one wrench twist away from needing a new frame.

If the post continues to slip, stop, think, reassess.

If I were you, I’d start from scratch. Take the post out, wipe it, and start anew. What’s slipping? Seat high? Seat angle?

I don’t love these wrenches. I almost stripped a screw on my Specialized Globe Haul.

These wrenches angle a bit when you’re applying pressure causing the screw head to strip under pressure. I think it has to do with the awkwardly long head on them (before the bend for the handle).

  5. Too much carbon paste actually starts to slip more. Better to have a thin layer around the seat post and a thin layer inside the seat tube. If you know your torque wrench works and is measured correctly then absolutely use that over the flimsy tools they send.

  6. I had the same problem and contacted canyon. They send me some tips. One of them was to grease more then the manual tells you to do. Not only the back of the seatpost but all sides. This helped and it does not slide anymore.

  7. At this point I’m thinking going to REI as they are now the ” official ” canyon shop. If they damage or break something you’ll be good
