Bit of a drive, the components sound good but as I understand it 2008 high end stuff is meh compared to modern versions? I offered the seller $600 when I didn’t know much and he just got back to me. I’m assuming this bike isn’t worth $600 but would like you guys opinion.

Not quite. You’re limited by the geometry and tire clearance, but this bike could compete with modern mid level bikes. You are losing out on disc brakes though.
600 isn’t a bad price, but I would ask for the drop bars if they still had it other wise, this is just a fancy hybrid.
This is a real hodgepodge. It is not a flat bar bike and was never designed to be one. This will mess up the riding position. I would skip.
With bikes like this I think it’s a question of intended use to be honest. It’s basically a race bike with a flat bar. The tires are too narrow for anything other than smooth paved roads. Old bikes can be a pain, carbon more so. Even if they’re in decent shape they need maintenance. Certainly, it’s depreciated a lot since new, but compared to a more recent bike it’s pretty limited I’m terms of functionality. It’s a flat bar race bike. I’d rather bike a somewhat newer bike with larger tire clearances and perhaps disk brakes.
For 600 just get a bike with discs. No reason to stick to rim unless you’re sub 400
15 year old carbon race bike – hell no
