I just purchased a lightly used Canyon CF SLX from a bike shop owner who got it on trade. He adjusted the seat yesterday when I went to look at and I saw him cranking down but didn't see this until i picked it up and got home today…..thoughts?

My thoughts are, it’s definitely more than 5Nm of torque. Sorry but you got, got
I think the bike is screwed, but perhaps the bike shop will do you right.
It may have already been damaged. If you’re tightening something to 5NM, it might open up at 4NM, leading to a click at 5NM, without you noticing it had done it. That said, it’s just as likely that he used 10NM and broke it.
But yeah, the funt’s cucked.
It don’t look lightly used to me
100% screwed
What did the bike shop say about it?
A carbon fiber specialist could probably repair that, and that’s definitely a conversation that could happen between you and the shop.

Either the mechanic did this or saw this crack whilst adjusting, for them not to let you know isn’t cool in my opinion. I would bring it back and not fuck with them based of that stuff alone.
