Just purchased this Nambei frame with fork from NJS and I’m looking for affordable-mid range options to build her up!
I am a devout flat bar rider and I don’t really see that changing. Any wheelset recs would be welcomed (clincher). Will be putting my Fi’zi:k saddle on it, still undecided about a crankset (usually run a 56-16 or 17).
Will be brakeless with straps. Open to suggestions, this is my dream bike.

dream bike and mid-range options?
cheaping out now, won’t save you any money later.
I’d go with Dura Ace, Suzue, or SSP
First of all NJS – Yay!
Second / Columbus Max – thumbs up.
Really nice start -I forgive you for the flat bars.
For a pre built wheel set my feeling is Mavic Ellypse is the one to compare others to and at the price point it’s pretty hard to beat for aerodynamics, weight and durability. If your building your own wheels and not looking to pay/risk a carbon tax carbon tax I like the kinlin xr31t(s) rims which are a few mm wider than the Mavics and the depth is the same but the kinlins are more a u shape and the Mavics are more of a v – so in theory the kinlins are more modern aero – I had mine built with Gran Compe sf hubs and Dt Swiss aero compe spokes –
For seatposts I’ve liked Thompson elite and the Nitto Sp72
For cranks I’ve used sugino 75s, Dura ace 7600 – and 7710 – they all work great – the 7710s are noticeably lighter.
Good luck with your building
