So, I bought this gravel bike and have been assessing components – particularly the drivetrain.

It comes from the factory set up with a GRX RX812 rear derailleur in a 2×11 format.

Cassette is a 11-34t and chainrings are 46/30.

All the specs on the RX812 indicate this is for a 1x with a capacity of 31T and a minimum 40t on the low sprocket.

What's going on here with my bike? Did the factory spec the wrong rear derailleur??

I want to stay 2x should I swap to the RX810?

  1. If you don’t have any shifting problems, then I wouldn’t worry too much about it, but you should still ask them.

Their website lists the “wrong” derailleur so it isn’t a problem with your niek specifically.

The 812 is indeed intended for 1x but it totally works with 2x too. The other way around works too.
