Hi all,
Heard an annoying sound during ly commute to work and really could not figure out what it was. It was only when pedalling, but it was also in correlation of my riding speed.
Since it was on a commute I did 40km like that before I had a chance to clean it and al pointed towards casette.
Buddy later found that the lock ring (correct component name?) of the casette is 'waving' and he was not able to set it right.
It was this lock ring that made the sound touching the screw of the derailleur hanger.
Is this automatic new casette and chain?
Did about 1700km on it since july, but a lot in bad weather.
Thanks for taking the time to look into it!

I would definitely unscrew the lockring and see if the thread of the freehub is damaged.
On the first look it’s cross threaded into freehub body. In this case thread on freehub are definitely mangled since lock nut is steel and freehub is aluminium. Even if you are able to unscrew it and screw again properly this isn’t as secure as supposed to be. Though risk factor is small here I believe. Cassette haven’t got any space to fly away when it’s mounted in rear triangle with wheel. Still I wouldn’t ride like that.
