Looks like you need to properly lubricate your chain.
Apart from that, I’d say there’s still a lot of life in both chain and cassette. That surface rust will probably go away once it’s lubed and you’ve used it for a few days.

Zero bads. Buy some chain lubricant and lube your chain. Then wipe off the excess.

Buy some bicycle chain lubricant and apply it liberally to the chain. Let it sit for a few minutes, and then use an old rag to wipe the excess off. You’ll be fine!
Don’t use: WD-40, grease, motor oil, olive oil, or anything else that doesn’t say “bicycle chain lube” on it.

Not riding your bike is very, very bad.
ride it more often and the rust will go away.

It’s fine. You can use a wire brush to remove the surface rust and then treat the chain with your preferred lubricant.

Wax dip your chain and that will never happen. I’ve got 40 year old chains with no rust
