The sticker says “specialized” and something illegible and then “butter aluminum”. The front two forks are carbon fiber and I feel like stripping the paint and creating something custom and cool. New seat, new tires, new handlebars, etc. Also why does the rear wheel only spin when I peddle backwards? Let me know if this is worth keeping and restoring to ride or if it’s junk. Thank you!

  1. Looks like an older specialized aluminum road bike frame that was converted to single speed. The “butter” is actually ‘butted.’
I would cut off some of that brake cable and put a cable end on there so it doesn’t sound like you got on a 2-stroke. If the wheels and headset don’t fall off when you pick it up and the chain stays on, you have a rideable single speed!

  2. I’d walk away from that thing. Drivetrain on the wrong side indicates it hasn’t been a functioning bike for some time. Usually the owner is quite consistent in behavior for good or for worse.

The back wheel can be flipped around, and with this setup, can only work in fixie mode, unless you want to go backwards only. The lack of back brake also implies that’s the intended set up.

Take off rear wheel and put it back on the other way.
