I don't know why but the idea of getting a step through bike like this and slapping AliExpress carbon bits and upgrading the drivetrain on it just seems so fun. Not to mention step through bikes just make more sense for a commuter and it also has a very upright seating position. I think it would be the ultimate commuter. And before you ask, yes I was dropped on the head as a child

I agree. Low step through makes a lot of sense on a commuter bike. People are just closed minded. I’d say go for it!
It might depend on what you ride now. If you’re riding anything with longer top tube or used to anything with bit more aggressive geometry the. You might feel a bit scrunched on one of these. But you could just go test ride and see how ya like one.
Looks very similar to my Norco Scene, which I made into an all-use bike (from commutes to touring to gravel and endurance rides) and did everything with. It got me into cycling as an adult, and the step-through frame was critical for this.
True X-Bike way would be to get an old mixty frame or complete bike and build it up/ modify that. Seems insane to buy a brand new bike that is like $600+ and then get rid of a bunch of parts on it and buy new parts.

They wheelie really easy. My coworker when i worked at a bike shop years ago, had one to get to and from work. He said it could hold wheelies better than any bike he had ridden, lol.
Aside from that, they are really comfortable bikes to tool around on. Great around town bikes.

Totally, but Marin makes a step thru bike with bigger tire clearance and a bit more swag.
Get one of their certified ones, they have like a thousand verve’s on there, with the same lifetime warranty on the frame as the new
Wdym “could be built into” it already is. I have a Norco a scene, my only changes have been adding a dropper and changing the grips. I love that thing. I spent less on it than the crankset on my “cool” bike and I ride the scene more.
