My GRX RD-822 has been creaking like crazy lately…it’s been thoroughly cleaned and serviced, including both the clutch mechanism and the spring that tensions the cage (cage fully removed, spring and all parts of assembly cleaned). I can’t figure out why this lateral movement still creates so much noise. It’s very audible while riding too…any ideas from folks who have dealt with this?

I’m on the verge of just buying a new derailleur (this one does have 3000ish miles on it), but suspect this same issue would eventually arise.

  1. It could also be the jockey wheels creaking, I’ve had that happen a few times. Easy to disassemble and regrease if you didn’t do that already. Some shimano jockey wheels have bushings which are more likely to creak but the nicer ones with the bearings can still creak if they’re dirty/worn.
