Hi all! Replaced my 11-40 with an 11-42 cassette and oh my it's very close. I adjusted the bolt that pulls the derailer up and away from the cassette to the point where it won't turn any more. Chain it's certainly a few links to short I think but it's operational just makes some slight grinding sounds as though the friction is too high? Gears change ok with a little more alignment to sort out. Should I go back to the 40 cassette? Is this fine? Add some more chain links to help with the shifting and feel?

Alright so technically, the 810 should be compatible with the 42 teeth cassette.
use a longer bolt, chain too short.
Chain way too short, get a new one on, or add links if it is new, will help for sure.
The derailleur officially accepts 42t, and unofficially 46t. If the b screw is all the way in, the problem must be the short chain. Once you get the correct length on there, I think that will fix it
