Hi all,
Those using a single bolt design 3T stem, what torque spec are you using to mount it to your carbon steerers?
Keen to know as the max spec on the 3T stem of 8 Nm sounds too high for modern carbon steerers.
Looking for your suggestions!
Thanks

I see 6nm most often. I’m a home mechanic, not a shop dawg, however.
TLDR: larger bolts need more torque than smaller bolts to achieve the same compression.
The compression force on the carbon steerer will be partially a function of the torque applied to the bolt and to the thread pitch of the bolt. If a m5 x 0.8mm bolt pair takes 5nM, you would expect an m8 x 1.25 bolt to take around 8nM for the same compression.
