  1. Some guy found this U.S. made Schwinn Probe in the dumpster and sold it to me for $25. It was in rough shape but pretty original.

    Schwinn made this model only one year – 1989. Lugged True Temper frame, made in USA. Originally a 15 speed flat bar set up. A user on bikeforums said about the Probe: “Nicely lugged, US-made frame that’s a bit better than the parts they put on it.” I agree with that sentiment.

    The goal of this build was a 26″ road bike. I nicknamed it the
    “Schwivendell.” Lots of parts from the shed. The only og parts left are the cranks/bottom bracket/pedals (infamous Sugino cranks with the plastic coating failing) and the front wheel (a French made Mallard).

    It fuckin’ rips.

    I’m here for “Schwivendell.” To me the hoods position looks useless but everyone’s different
