When the wheel is properly fitted, the thru-axle snugs it all down and there shouldn’t be any movement at all.

It could probably be tighter but when you put the wheel on it will clamp that tight so that it can’t move.

You should have almost no movement at all.

Hanger is loose.

Need a new derailleur hanger, that one is either goosed or the mounting hardware is.
It won’t get better with time, just replace it.

Check it with the wheel installed as the axle clamps down on the hanger

Is there anything mechanically holding the hanger to the bike here?
The movement is in a direction that isn’t possible when a wheel is there.

Uhh no

There’s usually tiny bolts that attach it to the frame. Did you tighten them?
Awkward_Syllabub_344 on
Usually there’s a very small screw attaching the hanger to the frame. This just keeps the hanger from falling off when you remove an axle. Might see if that can be tightened if there is one.
All the structure and strength comes from the qr or thru axle being torqued. No way to be movement that way assuming it’s assembled correctly.

No, and the hangar is loose.

From my experience, the hanger shouldnt rely on the wheel clamps. If there is screws then tighten them down. If it isnt the OG hanger that the bike was bult with, and you replaced it, you might need to drill one of the hanger holes in the frame a bit bigger and then line it up, torque it down. If it stays loose like now, it might not do its job when the derailleur is going to brake. Just an suggestion from experience, your bike-your choices.

Have you checked the screws? The hanger should be solid. It is possible to have a stripped screw, they are really small if it is a double screw connector. If it is a single screw like a chainring bolt? It is also not supposed to be that loose. Check the hanger connection to the frame

The frame-mounted hanger is loose. Tighten those bolts. If not, contact manufacturer.

Mounting screws are loose.

Ah no not normal the tapping must be dead maybe there is the possibility of putting an insert. on the other hand if it’s a carbon bike I’m a little afraid for your frame. fingers crossed and have a good trip
