I drove my EV Porsche Taycan All Electric Car from Leeds to London to put the UK Charging Infrastructure to the test and answer the question that everyone seems to be asking these days. Are Electric Cars the future of motoring and will petrol and diesel cars still be on sale after 2035 or will they delay the ban on the sale of petrol and diesel cars yet again?

What does a person with diarrhoea and an electric car owner have in common ….. they both hope they make it home
A lot of cynicism here and cynicism never "fixed" anything. Loose the EV (major frustration} and move to an ICE car. Simple.Your EV frustration will vanish overnight. Problem solved and you can move on to new complaints, like the escalating cost of gas.
England is a miserable place in winter. Happy I'm less where in the sun
No electric cars here
All petroleum protects
Cheap as chips
£33 charge and you still got to stop and charge before london……can get there in my old 307 2lt diesel for less than £30 from leeds
This video has been completely debunked by more balanced videos.
Soaking wet at charger? umbrella. All the grunting and stupid comments. He wanted this to fail and managed to achieve his aim. Big deal.
You can always make more money but you cannot ever make more time. Imagine years of life wasted waiting for a charge. It tells you how low these people value their time and life
So multi-national companies making money from punters is a surprise? More fool us for using them.
Oh, you lease your car as you stated in this video – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kOTGEtjUdI&t=351s&ab_channel=TheMacMaster
And why don't you get a Tesla charger account? (won't fit your anti EV agenda of course) – they have dozens available to non-Tesla EV owners.
EV also look much like any other car these days and cars aren't 'drawn' they are styled and designed. Car companies are only making what the punters will buy or lease and playing on anything that will give them an edge hence Mustang etc.
Love the debate McM, play the EVerly Bros classic "All I Have To Do Is Dream…." Sunak and Co
When you visit these Porche dealers, do you ever see any 918s? A friend wants one of those, but they are unavailable in Canada. What they should do when calculating a range is to error on the side of all options, and then it would be a more accurate range. So if there was wind or heavy traffic and then running all possibilities in the car, but as some of your prior videos have shown, you can get more or less range depending on driving conditions. The other thing is you have a fixed Amps load on the charger but a variable voltage, which means they did not wire the charge point in parallel but in series.
I could not eat at a Starbucks or any other coffee shop; I do not partake, so it would be reading a book for me, which would be interesting if it was -20.
Oslo is considering banning all cars in the city, which is defeating because they give a massive tax break to buy an EV, so where will you part one if you live in a flat in Oslo? They have a 67% adoption, partially due to bribing people to buy an EV, but my cousin said that electricity costs have gone up 4 times before the Tax break on EVs. In his case, they kept their gas vehicle because there are places where there is no electricity wired.
Lee, those old motorway service cafes were bloody diabolical!! At least you can safely eat the food at Burger King, Kentucky fried Chicken, McDonalds etc. I think you may have swapped your usual specs for a rose-tinted pair!😂
2024 alot of evs will have 400+ miles average range so most these issues become irrelevant
i was told that the preston by pass was the first bit of moter way
battery cars were a flop in 1830's and nothing has changed. They will never be a thing until battery technology is 10 times better and safer and cheaper than it is now. Nothing depreciates like an EV! when the battery in your phone goes bad and it always does, it's not that pricey. Try pricing out a EV battery and get back to me on how great they are.
Electric Porsche’s: For minions that don’t know they’re minions. 🤷🏻♂️😂😂😂
They are technically door mirrors now but as they weren't originally set there. I always been told they are called wing mirrors but technically that's when they were introduced and were set on the wings.
Forever wing mirrors 👍🏻
Do it again, but this time in a Tesla Model 3. And what did you expect from Porsche? As someone said about EVs…. 'putting wings on a caterpillar does not make it a butterfly'.
What happened to the M10?
Never, ever say " never".Within 10 years loads and loads of EVs will be fitted with solid state batteries and " range anxiety" will be gone forever.
It would be significantly cheaper to charge at Leeds Ionity than Porsche Leeds at £0.30 per KwH as opposed to £0.75 from Porsche Centre? Was it the free food and drink that swayed you to charge at Porsche.😂
A Porsche Ebike is a bigger joke than EV Car What a RIP OFF 13G
What’s going to happen to Ev ‘s if there is power cuts again in the future just like in the 70’s and early 80’s , People would be going nowhere .
WING MIRRORS
I live in the States…and have less chargers than you…..are you just now….very good at figuring out what you are doing?
I’ll buy you a hat for your birthday 🤡🧙♂️
I think you're right. In my country public transport is a shambles though! Yours is better.
From now on we don't call them EV's anymore, but MF's. Short for Milk Floats.
Do you know about battery pre heating. 10-80% in the taycan should only take 21mins
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.
I've only lied one time in my entire life. Right now.
'Rover the car that's taking over'.
AT least some of the chargers he visited were under cover (to some degree). Nearly all chargers seem to be totally exposed to the rain, unlike petrol pumps which are nearly always under cover.
Who wants to piss around with their cables, with their phone, with apps, in the pouring rain, when its windy and freezing cold. Seems to me like every time you stop at a charger you have to mess around for ages just trying to get it to work.
And then what, while it's charging? Go into some shitty service station and have a rubbish overpriced coffee, or eat some shit from Greggs or Maccies? So there's another tenner gone, and more of your life wasted. Basically, EVs seem to only be for people who can park off road and charge at home all the time and never do journeys more than about 175 miles.
And charging is so expensive at public chargers…..I drive a big diesel Merc estate, and it costs me 18 pence per mile in diesel. Been looking at used luxury EVs, and charging out on the road is going to be more like 40 pence per mile!!!
If it's a company car and you save several hundred per month in tax, and your employer pays for all the charging, then fine, you'll put up with the hassle.
I'm retired, so time on the road waiting for a car to charge is MY time, not paid time as an employee.
Years ago, wing mirrors used to be placed on the wing of the car. Hence, wing mirror. Now they're fitted to the doors. Nuff said.
Since when was Leeds in the North when I went to School it was in the midlands???
Hate to say this, you bought the WRONG car, simple. I’ve done multiple long journeys in my Tesla no issues. You bought that car because of the badge and the badge only. plus you started charging on a cold battery. Always pre-heat the battery.
Your car thinks she is an exotic dancer and should be named as such. 33:20
I am confused, why are you so scared of change? Your videos highlight that the charging infrastructure is not great and needs to be a lot better …Your car, on the whole, is ok – it's what you wanted and paid for. I guess you can't sell it because of the drop in price so making these videos gets you traction to go back to an ICE car …. I have seen a number of videos of people doing long runs in EV cars without any major issues – so when you do yours, do you plan in any way? do you know how to use to your EV?
i do like the 911 targa they look great
really service stations should be cheapest because the have easy big roads to sock them. a big truck can easy stock up service station than a small shop in little village where you need another small truck in some cases so services should be cheap but they rip off. but Warwick services edge a46 it surprised me my last trip to wales and had to use it as it 5am but it was £1.40 liter but got to Llangollen texco they wanted £1.56 so i refused to fully fill up i waited and only enough fuel till small interdependent fuel station 8 miles away was open and small garage with only 4 pumps and wood hut for a shop got my money. crazy thing is that the only cases ive ever come across a services fuel was cheap but really it should be
Its good to do reviews but when you are clearly biased its not quite as useful. Buy a car that is relevant to your needs and you will need to moan less. Imagine needing to do 300 miles a day for work and buying a car that does 15mpg and then moaning you pay a fortune on fuel lol. Is there room for improvement in the range and charge speeds? Absolutely, no question about it but the average uk car owner does 8k miles a year thats 153 miles per week, so if you have a car with a range of about 240 miles you only need to charge once a week. If it's about control of where you can drive then why is it chargers have got faster and more charging points have been erected? I think people are a bit silly sometimes. Oh and i love ICE cars and own 1 electric and 1 ICE car and use them accordingly
Honestly never had any range issues with my Enyaq 80. Charging easy. At motorway speeds I get close to 250 miles. Taycan maybe not the right choice of ev if you want to do long distances? Sad how much it lost value , too.
How many days a year will you make a trip of 400 miles without any planned interruptions? Maybe 5 days a year if I am estimating high?
And why would you not plan ahead for such a trip by charging up the night before?
You are just showing off your own incompetence
Wingmirrors? In dutch they are just called "buitenspiegels", so that would translate to external mirrors
By the way: you are right on car design. Most of the EV's are designed so poor that they are either ugly or Tesla-imitations. Hard to find a nice design that is not over-used
I travelled last month from Cork to Cornwall with my family in a Tesla model 3 rwd which has the smaller battery, just two stops for charging and on the first Imeven had to go back to move car as it was finish charging before we were ready. On the way back we made 3 stops because my families bladders needed attention before the car did so it was not a charging stop. As for those who say it's about political identity far from it, I would never dictate to anyone what they should drive nor do I subscribe to eco scare mongering I just like my car that so far in a year I have spent out on filling the washer bottle as far as maintenance expenses go.
Haha unmistakable Finchley Rd 45:49 My old stomping ground!
Just found dashcam footage from that exact road I took back in 2019 just before they introduced the 20mph limit. It now takes around 25 min to go from that point down to Swiss Cottage. Do you know how long it used to take when the limit was 30mph? 6 minutes. LITERALLY no longer than that. How mad is that?? Just shows how much time and traffic they're adding to everyone's journey! Think about it. Incredible.
The PSA I remember here in the USA was a cartoon about the dangers of smoking. It showed a man lighting a fuse to light a stick of dynamite using his last match. He then pulled out a cigarette and ended up chasing the fuse to light it and blew himself up. Commercials were much better back then
djeeees you talk a lot. I drove 3000 km last weekend in arctic Norway. All good easy, loved it. My car need to charge every 700 km, but i do it more often than that. Love Ev cars now, faster warm in the winters, dont loose much range and so quiet. ahhhh love it
That was seriously stressful to watch, disliked it. Make a point ‘agenda’ but the constant ranting was wild. You need to check up on your blood pressure levels as your in the later years of life, cheer up 😅 You’re scared of change, you want things to be like the old days, it’s normal.
Nnnn. B. N. N. N. N. N. N. N. N nn. N. N. N n. N nn. Nnnn. Nn. Nn. Nn.
Don’t know what the issue is with glasses that help drivers at night, I’ve used them for years especially driving trucks and Coaches, anything that helps drivers vision in any way is only a good thing right? Mind you I don’t expect to hear much wisdom from listening to the rantings of someone with more time and money than sense driving an overpriced electric junk car that he’s always complaining about. As the saying goes there’s no fool like an old fool.
