Have bought an e-bike for my commute to the train station. As the frame is thicker than most bikes it’s been quite tricky to get the U lock in a good position.

I have the Litelok x1 and Litelok core plus, both diamond rated.

Today I went for the U lock on the immovable object and through the rear triangle and back wheel. With the flexi lock round the immovable object, frame and front wheel. This is the first time I’ve managed to get the U lock to secure the frame and wheel, even though it’s through it, to the immovable object.

Before this I had the Flexi lock round the back wheel, seat tube and the immovable object, and the U lock just round the front wheel and frame. But I’d prefer the idea of the U lock on the immovable object as well as it’s probably more secure than the flexi one.

Any thoughts or suggestions welcome, TIA.

  1. I think the locking job is very good.

I am however quite concerned about the structural integrity of your rear cargo rack.

The upper deck doesn’t appear to connect to the rear of your frame in any way. The 4 vertical legs are each on a different bolt position making for a rectangle shape.

Triangles are very strong. Rectangles are vulnerable to lateral collapse.

Anyway I’m just concerned about it folding to the rear and getting into your wheel.

It might be worth adding a horizontal support.

    Just my 2 cents.
