I just waxed my brand new chain, cleaned up the oil with a degreaser and alcohol. Once trying it, it sounds noisy. Is that normal for a waxed chain or is something wrong?
Depending on the wax brand, yes. Silca has a run in advice on each rewax. You can speed the run in by “working” the chain over but it settles pretty quickly, maybe longer if you use the endurance chip

This is pretty common. It takes some time for the wax to loosen up within all the rollers. Shifting will also be a little sketchy for the first few miles but it will eventually works it’s way out and back to smooth operation.

It will get quieter after a little break in, the louder again a few days later as it wears away.

It always takes my rewaxed chains 2 or 3 miles until they’re quiet again. Silica hot wax, FWIW.
