  1. Might be stress cracks, but also looks like some water might’ve gotten under the paint either after or during the painting process and it could be rust

    Only way to check is to remove the paint and check the metal

    If the forks are new I would consider contacting the manufacturer or the place of purchase.

  2. Are you the original owner? Could be chipped paint that was repainted. Could be cracks, easy way to check would be to spray some white or yellow paint and see if it goes through.

    In the paint, yes. Metal won’t crack like that. Those are just stress cracks in the paint from flex. metal flexes, paint doesn’t, result is stress cracks in paint.

  4. Only way to be certain is to sand the paint away to view the bare metal. The forks are black so it’s easy to blend black spray paint to that.

    I’ve seen both, where there was hair line cracks under neath the paint splitting.

    Or it is just the paint from moisture or the metal moving from stress.

    Better to be safe than sorry.
