In Paris, after 3.5 years of construction, the colossal “Bassin d’Austerlitz” rainwater basin with a depth of 30 metres and a diameter of 50 metres is entering its final phase. The aim of this 90 million project is clear: to improve the hygienic quality of the Seine’s water, particularly in view of the 2024 Summer Olympics, and to ensure that swimming competitions can take place in the Seine. Due to the enormous load on the concrete structure caused by filling with water, considerable subsidence occurs when the water tank is first filled. To prevent damage to the floor slab, Pecavoid® is used to ensure effective load decoupling. The load decoupling element serves as a stable formwork during concreting; when a predefined breaking load is reached, it collapses and creates a cavity. The Pecavoid® product is manufactured in the UK by MAX FRANK Ltd. in Stoke-on-Trent. The product was supplied for the Bassin d’Austerlitz project in Paris by MAX FRANK SAS in Montauban, France.

MAX FRANK as a company:
________________________________________

We have been developing, producing and distributing a wide range of proven products for concrete and reinforced concrete construction for over half a century. We accompany our customers reliably through every building phase with a technically sophisticated and intensive intermeshing of industrial production, high-quality products and multifaceted services.

That is why we develop individual project solutions in an open dialogue with our partners. We are using innovations in structural physics geared toward longer life cycles and sustainability and we are striving to offer more efficient processes. We are assisted in this by our ability to listen attentively and ask the right questions, because good questions open up those involved in the construction to productive thinking processes and discussions beyond isolated views and prejudice. Questions that penetrate to the core of the task and help to gain new insights and stake off more and more common terrain.

We at MAX FRANK call that: BUILDING COMMON GROUND
