Construction on a new ‘Dutch-style’ roundabout, touted as a “first-of-its-kind” for Hertfordshire, is currently in progress.
This initiative will transform the existing circular junction in Maylands, Hemel Hempstead, into a design that emphasizes the safety and convenience of cyclists and pedestrians.
The initial modifications to the roundabout will be carried out by Hertfordshire County Council between Boundary Way and Buncefield Lane, with additional work scheduled to extend into the summer months.

Although change is a de-facto standard in life the new 'standards' being introduced by ESG, DEI and Net Zero will simply drain the economy (by design by the globalist elitists).
This push (including Net Zero) is using Marxist rules to 'change the current normality' (Marxism) into a new normality that can be censored and controlled by the ruling elitists moving away from 'FREE' market capitalism (when anyone can partake and get involved) into 'stakeholder' capitalism where the stakeholders are already 'self' selected waiting in wings to control and use government as middle management for themselves (which is already well underway). These people types use tax payers money (and life in many cases) to create crisis after crisis in in efforts to obtain wealth and control for themselves and take absolute socialist control by 2030/2035. When public money runs out these same people will attempt to protect themselves by draconian enforcement of socialism (communism) to protect their power base and wealth. Look to history and see where censorship and 'help the people', 'help the economy' has been used in socialism! The new moralistic theater is 'save the environment'!
Ask do billionaires actually care about saving the planet, helping people when the chosen model for their wet dream (world dominance) using the model of the CCP (The WEF) where you wont be allowed to own anything (as they will own and run it through government) but be happy?

OVER £1000000 (1 million) i`m pretty certain that would fill a few HUNDRED potholes around hemel hempstead, total WASTE OF MONEY,it`s VERY RARE TO SEE CYCLISTS and PEDESTRIANS on that stretch of road !!!!

If you want people to use public transport it has to be 1. cheap or free, 2. on time and regular, 3. clean and safe. it's so simple but it comes with a cost. and as Mike says its our money.
I’m sure that no one on the council received any reimbursement from the construction companies. These councils are so honest. Everything they do is for the people and not for their bank balances. I trust them completely and would gladly sell my children to support them.
They built one of these road and roundabout near us costing millions, total disaster, Been at least one death and unknown amount of accidents. Absolute waste of money.

Try getting around on public transport, in the evening, early in the morning particularly on Sundays.
